BFBC2 Missing Effects When AA Is Enabled On Catalyst 11.3
Posted: March 30th, 2011 | Author: kn00tcn | Filed under: Hardware, Tips/TutorialsTags: annoyance, ATI, drivers, fix, gaming, graphics
UPDATE: 11.4 is out, grab it from AMD. The 2 dlls are exactly the same as the preview dlls dated February 27, so it’s not an issue anymore.
If you dared to install Catalyst 11.3 WHQL over the 11.4 Previews, then you might run into this in Battlefield Bad Company 2. In DirectX 10 or 11 mode, enabling anti-aliasing causes various effects to disappear, mostly transparent ones.
Luckily there’s a simple fix. Just place aticfx32.dll and atidxx32.dll from either 11.2 or 11.4p into the game folder and everything is back to normal.

Thank You!! I was having this problem with 11.3, and couldn’t find a solution anywhere until now
Where did you find those files? I extracted 11.2 and can’t find it.
@Jason, the folder is something like C:\ATI\Support\###_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Packages\Drivers\ Display\W76A_INF\B_98282‘, then you have to expand in the command prompt by typing ‘expand aticfx32.dl_ aticfx32.dll’ and ‘expand atidxx32.dl_ atidxx32.dll’, now you can move those files to the game folder
I just encountered this bug with an install of the 11.3 driver… Thanks for this fix! Hopefully 11.4 will be better…
How do I expand those files? Do I just put them in the root of the bad company 2 folder?
I have the steam version of this game, do they go into – c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\battlefield bad company 2\ or somewhere else?
yes, wherever bfbc2.exe is so it sees and loads the dlls from there instead of the ones in system32
can u upload the expanded dll? please!
TAHNK YOU! I’ve been searching for this for a while…
